Update the color palette. Go for a newer modern print in a cool geometric or a new trendy color. The photo above shows how i decorated my dining room when we first moved in. When i shared my cerused dining table makeover yesterday i had several people comment and say that their own dining table needed a bit of an update as well.

A little back story on this old dining room table my in laws purchased it when they moved into this home about 20 years ago. But the room did not benefit from the brilliant light we got in our old dining room and the florals here began to feel too prominent. Since i know that probably not everyone wants a cerused dining table i thought i d bring you some other ideas as well as helpful links to get your creative juices flowing. Very nice set of furniture and a great size room.

Using modern accessories in your dining room will make the furniture also feel more modern. Add more modern neutral colors to your dining room to update the room s color palette white cream greige gray and black are beautiful timeless neutrals that pair really well with traditional styles. To redo your dining set inside place a large drop cloth underneath your dining set then place small squares of wax paper under table and chair legs so you can paint all the way to the floor. You could select a nice upholstery fabric and use that to select paint window coverings and possibly a new rug.

Choose a new fabric to recover your dining seats. You may have a color in an adjacent room that you can use.
